A visual journey through the Arctic ice. More than a collection of pictures, this is a sensory experience that takes the reader to the heart of the icy and ephemeral beauty of the region: an ode to pure aesthetics, a celebration of the majesty of the glaciers and of their fragility, capturing the infinite forms, the chaotic structures and the hypnotic fractals of that universe. Beyond the aesthetics a silent urgency is felt throughout, and the last pages announce the imminent and inevitable disorder looming over the region. Vincent Mercier chose the cyanotype to translate the glacial structures visually, creating images of melancholic beauty; each print is the result of a meticulous and demanding process in which he took the time to reconnect with analogue techniques. The work is not only an inventory but a precise and quasi-scientific testimony, each glacier listed with its exact coordinates, which serve as the caption for each print.
