FW books
Fw:Books is an independent Amsterdam publisher run as a collaboration between the designer Hans Gremmen and the artist Petra Stavast, and its premise fits in one sentence on its site: “We see the choice to make a book as a choice to make a new work.” It adds that photography is a unique medium with no fixed way of revealing itself, which is why the books vary so much in format and form, from a bilingual study of a garden village to a two-volume experiment and a monochrome landscape book. Photography and related topics are the field; the book is the artwork. The house keeps its own series, Fw:Photography, whose first ten years it has looked back on, and its books are distributed by Idea Books.
