Art Paper Editions
Art Paper Editions was founded in 2010 by Jurgen Maelfeyt of the Ghent design studio 6'56", and the designer's view runs through it: it describes itself as an independent publishing platform that treats the book as an exhibition space. Publications are made in close collaboration with artists, writers, institutions, galleries and other cultural figures, and crafted, in its own words, to the highest standard; many have been acquired by libraries such as MoMA, Centre Pompidou and MACBA. Its tagline promises award-winning books on photography, art and architecture, and the list is indeed mixed, with photography leading and art, design and architecture titles, calendars and posters around it. Read it as an art-book studio: the pictures matter, and so does the page as a space.
