La Fabrica

Madrid, Spain · since 1995

La Fábrica is a Madrid publisher and cultural organisation founded in 1995, whose motto, «Nada da igual», nothing is the same, stands over a catalogue of essays, art catalogues and photobooks that it presents as singular books and magazines made with an eye on quality. Its work runs on three lines: its own editions, the cult magazine Matador, and co-editions with institutions, museums, foundations and companies, for which it handles concept, texts, rights, design, binding, promotion and distribution; in this archive such partners include the city of Barcelona, Fundación Canal, Enaire and Turespaña. The house is also tied to the PHotoESPAÑA festival and runs an online bookshop that sells titles by other publishers as well.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
