The four seasons of the Tajogaite volcano. This book follows the eruption and formation of the Tajogaite volcano, one of the most striking events of our recent history, in the natural park of Cumbre Vieja on La Palma. The photographer takes as reference the painter and engraver Katsushika Hokusai, who fell in love with Mount Fuji, one of the three sacred mountains of Japan, and portrayed it from every possible angle in his Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji. Eduardo Nave is neither a volcanologist nor an explorer, but he went to La Palma to capture not only the eighty-five days the volcano was active but also its life during the four seasons.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
