Edition Taube

Munich, Germany · since 2009

Edition Taube is an artists' book publisher founded in Munich in 2009. Its catalogue is numbered, and every book is made as an object in its own right: the early titles were risograph zines and booklets, such as the Homebase Berlin series of 2010, while later ones are offset-printed, thread-stitched or boxed, and some exist only as books. Alongside them the house issues limited artists' editions, prints and objects that are often tied to a book. Its best-known project is David Horvitz's Eighty Ways to Steal a Book, published in translation in dozens of languages. Photography runs through the list in works such as Peter Granser's The Red-Crowned Crane & The End of the World and Saskia Groneberg's Büropflanze. The house takes its books to art book fairs from Tokyo to Warsaw.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
