Diaphane Editions

France

DIAPHANE éditions is a French publisher “specialised in books devoted to photography”, in close relationship with Diaphane, a photography hub in the Hauts-de-France region, and its list is tied to that territory: publishing linked to creative residencies in the region, annual volumes for the Photaumnales festival, and recurring collective projects such as the books by graduates of the École nationale supérieure de la photographie in Arles. It also publishes books proposed by photographers when they fit its line. The house sees the photobook as a lasting record of an artist's vision and a key step in a career, made in close collaboration with the photographer and with particular care for image reproduction and layout; coeditions with the Société française de photographie add the historical strand.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
