Like a step aside and a thumbs-up to the codes of reading photography, the generation of 2015 graduates escapes from the beaten track, plays and plays with the image. Some venture on the schoolboy's thread, by appropriating images gleaned from the internet, or by diverting iconic images, and blur the reading lines with apparent carelessness.

Others feature animals, leave room for children, tell us stories, take us in the footsteps of wild detectives in Mexico, or along the damp paths of a Breton peninsula. All nevertheless bear witness to this need to capture and grasp our contemporaneity, in its social or political frictions, its intimacy, its lightness or its commitment.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
