IBASHO
IBASHO is a gallery in Antwerp, opened in March 2015 by Martijn van Pieterson and Annemarie Zethof after their move from London a year earlier, devoted to fine art Japanese photography, from well-known photographers to younger contemporary artists, and to Western photographers inspired by Japan. Its name means a place where you can be yourself. Because photobooks are an important medium for presenting photography in Japan, IBASHO also deals in new and antiquarian Japanese photobooks, and it publishes its own books together with the Paris publisher the(M) éditions rather than as a separate imprint. It is a member of Antwerp Art and of AIPAD, the association of photography art dealers.
