Lars Müller Publishers
Lars Müller Publishers came into being in 1983 as a result of the bibliophile passion of the designer Lars Müller, whose studio in Baden dates from 1982. Müller had worked as an assistant to the designer Wim Crouwel in Amsterdam and built a long friendship with his mentor Josef Müller-Brockmann, and the first book appeared in September 1983. The house is now internationally active from Zurich and its list covers architecture, design, art and photography, as well as titles that confront urgent social questions, from the Swiss International Style to Japanese design rigour and from Latin American architecture to American visionary thinking. For decades it depended on income from the design studio.
