Hydra

Mexico City, Mexico · since 2012

Hydra is a Mexico City platform for photography projects, founded in 2012 by Ana Casas Broda, Gabriela González Reyes and Gerardo Montiel Klint and joined in 2020 by Lourdes Báez Meza, and its publishing arm, Hydra Editorial, produces photobooks and co-publishes with imprints such as RM and La Fábrica. It describes itself as an independent space for reflection and production about photography, with exhibitions, a collecting programme and support for authors from creation through circulation. Its Incubadora de Fotolibros programme works with authors on their dummies, and the Inframundo collection launched the editorial project with photobooks developed through that programme. The address is in Roma Norte.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
