Quodlibet

Macerata, Italy · since 1993

Quodlibet was founded in Macerata in 1993, according to one review of the house, by a group of young intellectuals around the University of Macerata, students of Giorgio Agamben, who had three books ready to print when they chose its graphic identity. The name refers to the medieval public debates of the universities, and its logo, a white field, carries the profile of the writer Robert Walser. It is a general publisher of essays, literature and scholarship, with series such as Quodlibet Studio, and the photography titles in this archive are a small part of a list that is mostly not photographic.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
