First volume of a series produced by the Museo Nazionale dell’Automobile

The Future Unfolds is the first volume in the series that the Museo Nazionale dell'Automobile is dedicating to the mobility of the future. Created for the opening of a new exhibition space, it gathers ideas and reflections from teachers, researchers and professionals investigating the challenges and opportunities of intelligent mobility — from decarbonisation to digitalisation, from AI to urban air mobility — accompanied by the poetic contribution of photographer Marina Caneve, who helps redefine our relationship with innovation, including from an aesthetic and cultural point of view. The whole amounts to a kind of manifesto on the Museum's role today, not only as a collector of memories but as an activator of thought: an informative, choral work made up of different approaches and points of view, restoring the complexity of the debate from the conviction that there is no single future awaiting us and no single revolutionary innovation that will make us sustainable. There will be many paths and different technologies that can help us, but it will be up to us, through our choices and our behaviour, to build a better future.

ABOUT

The project

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.

Images and rights

Covers, interior pages and descriptions are shown to introduce and identify the books, always crediting publisher, author and photographer and linking back to the publisher. We ask publishers for their permission, and we remove anything on request within 7 days. If you are a publisher, an author or a photographer and you want something changed or removed, write to info@spineindex.it.
