CTRL Books

Bergamo, Italy · since 2009

CTRL is a magazine and a publishing house of narrative and photographic reportage, born in Bergamo in 2009, and its books are labelled CTRL Books. They are mostly not purely photobooks: a typical title pairs written reportage with a photo section, as in a book of five reports on linguistic minorities with photographs by one photographer. A separate series, Le Latte di CTRL, publishes photo reportages in a 10 by 15 format packaged in tin cans, among them one on the Alpine Recuperanti. Books are sold through independent bookshops and the CTRL online shop, and the publishing entity is a cultural association.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
