In residence in Beauvais, Jean de Calan was interested in the traces of the architectural transformations of the city over the century. By focusing on the architecture of the Reconstruction or towards the new suburbs, he broadened the expected field of heritage. He took members of the Beauvais photo club and CM1 students from the Binet school on his adventure. The result of this work was presented as part of the Photaumnales in September 2005. More than a presentation of photographs, this book offers a montage of photographs by Atget, Jean de Calan and images created by the students.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
