Catalogue of Chema Madoz's exhibition at the Círculo de Bellas Artes, collecting a selection of his most disturbing images, some of them unknown. The uncanny, that strangeness which according to Freud lurks in the everyday and the domestic, shows itself in the objects immortalised by this genius of Spanish photography, which are altered and mixed without violence and seem to belong to a world at once close and unreal. The curators of the exhibition, Juan Barja and Patxi Lanceros, analyse in an essay the relationship of his powerful images with the inhospitable and the sinister.
