The images of Santiago Torralba become a new look at spaces in transformation: industrial estates halfway between countryside and urban fabric, civil works that alter the landscape, concrete walls, beams, unfinished structures and, who knows, perhaps abandoned ones. Through photography, Torralba finds a way to abstract the essence of these dislocated spaces. The images were taken in several cities, but they could be of just one or of none: clean forms, profiles against the sky, earth, vegetation and daylight. In the author's own words, they are mere pretexts for getting masses of colour, lines... an effort of the gaze to discover things that may go unnoticed.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
