Pia-Paulina Guilmoth's pictures begin with patient acts of co-creation. She stages delicate sculptures from spider silk, flowers and other natural materials, then waits as land and water, wind, light or a stray moth interact with them in unpredictable ways. Sometimes the making takes the form of building trust with animals, carefully, over many nights. Each silver print is made by hand by the artist, and the cover reproduces a sheet of aged pink craft paper found in an abandoned house down the road from her home.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
