A photographer and a painter have dedicated this work to their two year old daughter. Made for the most part on the Greek island of Hydra, the pictures reimagine a child's gaze that still has an untethered and pristine view of the world. In trying to capture the unspoiled aspect of their surroundings the couple found a new way of working, inspired by the things their daughter pointed out on their walks across the island: it brought the photographer to focus on small and intimate details such as an animal shape formed by metal wire, debris found on the beach, or the face they encountered in the crumbling wall of a deserted hotel in an empty bay.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
