Brings together the earliest photographic letters that RongRong and inri exchanged between 1999 and 2000, selected from the larger series Personal Letters. Hand-made, sometimes hand-coloured black-and-white prints show either RongRong or inri, surrounded by messages in Chinese characters and/or English from one to the other, alongside several images of the couple together. Personal Letters was first shown at the MEP in 2022 in the group exhibition Love Songs: Photography and Intimacy, more than twenty years after it was made, a show that asked what photography looks like when it is made within a relationship rather than from an external, neutral perspective.
