Casa Piedra delves into the history of a site in La Serena, Chile, known as Casa Piedra, which was a clandestine detention centre operated by the National Intelligence Directorate (CNI) during the Pinochet dictatorship. It is estimated to have been active between 1982 and 1985. During that period its walls witnessed the gravest human rights violations: detention, torture and various crimes against humanity carried out with the systematic aim of dismantling the opposition to the regime. Through images and testimonies, this photobook not only reconstructs the physical and emotional space of the site but is an act of symbolic reparation and a call to keep historical memory alive.
