Published to accompany an exhibition at the National Gallery of Canada, the book gathers more than 130 works from all of Don McCullin's major series: his social documentary work in England, his Berlin Wall series, his award-winning work on war and famine, his anthropological expeditions, and his still lifes and landscapes. McCullin has been making photographs for more than fifty years, first capturing the small dramas of everyday life in 1950s London, then travelling to the world's most dangerous conflict zones, and more recently exploring the landscapes of Somerset.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
