In preparing for the solo exhibition Michael Jackson Penthouse at Retrospective Gallery, American artist Landon Metz was commissioned to portray his work process in his New York West Street Studio through a camera lens, over two intensive weeks. The limited edition photo-book is unique in its kind, as the art form differs from that of the artist's signature, and includes a text by Diego Cortez on his work at the cusp between reality and imagination.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
