A24 Screenplay Collection 003

Book 003 in the A24 Screenplay Collection, dedicated to Moonlight (2016), directed by Barry Jenkins and based on Tarell Alvin McCraney's story In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue. The film, starring Mahershala Ali, Naomie Harris, Trevante Rhodes, Ashton Sanders and André Holland, follows a young Black man's coming of age in Miami in three chapters; it won three Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay. The book presents Jenkins' screenplay with an introduction by Frank Ocean, an essay by Hilton Als, acceptance speeches from Moonlight's historic Oscars night, and the '24 Frames' section of director-selected stills. One of the first three books in the collection, launched in September 2019 in a first edition of 2000 copies. Published by A24, distributed through MACK.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
