INCOMPIUTO: The Birth of a Style is the first and only investigation, the fruit of ten years of field research, into a much-discussed yet still-unrecognized phenomenon in our country: the massive presence of buildings and infrastructures whose construction has never been completed. The scale of the phenomenon, its territorial extension, and its incredible architectural peculiarities make the Unfinished the most important Italian architectural style from the postwar period to the present. This is the provocative yet unquestionable thesis of the working group that over the years has collected thousands of photographs and examined hundreds of reports from across the country, starting in Sicily and then moving up the peninsula. UNFINISHED: The Birth of a Style takes the reader on a modern Grand Tour of contemporary ruins. The imperfections you may find in the book's printing correspond to an "Unfinished aesthetic" that the authors have chosen to adopt. We have decided to share it.
