This is a study of our perception, an investigation of what we see when we see, and what we unconsciously do not want to see. When we come into a new environment, we ask: “Where am I?” But as soon as we recognise the connections, our attention drops again. Balder Olrik's works are inspired by Nobel laureate Daniel Kahneman's model of the perceptual structures of the brain. In his pictures, Olrik disturbs our viewing habits by removing context-specific image elements, also as an invitation to perceive our environment more consciously.
