The artist’s book Oh… My God! collects a photo series taken last spring by Hilario Isola in Myanmar, one of Buddhism’s sacred places, where one hundred or so temples have been destroyed by a recent earthquake. Now the pagodas affected by the earthquake, covered by thin bamboo structures, have taken original and unexpected forms, hanging between architecture and art, life and destruction. This temporary condition allowed the artist to catalogue, study and also to develop a sort of appropriation.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
