“Linear time is an invention of the West. Time is not linear, it’s a wonderful tangle where, at any instant, we can pick points and invent solutions, without beginning or end,” writes Lina Bo Bardi. Habitats is a compilation of texts from Lina Bo Bardi’s tenure as director of Habitat , a publication self-dubbed ‘the magazine of the arts in Brazil’. Between 1950 and 1954, Habitat documented Bo Bardi’s early thoughts on Brazilian culture, as well as reflecting her very personal take on modernism. Edited and designed by Julia, with photographic and artistic contributions by Tamar Guimarães, Claudia Leisinger, Tony de Marco, Lara Viana and Tuca Vieira.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
