The debut book by Roman photographer Marta Bevacqua was born from the realization of a childhood dream, which arose between the pages of a novel, and transformed into a passion, that for the Svalbard Islands, which led the author to spend time there between various trips between 2016 and 2024. Each visit reveals a new face of the Arctic landscape: from the polar night to the first miraculous return of light, from snowstorms to the melting of the ice. A place where nature dictates the rhythm, where nothing remains unchanged, Bevacqua aims to capture its changing nuances. The photographs contained in the volume reflect on memory, on solitude and on the fragile balance between man and nature, so Svalbard becomes a refuge for Bevacqua, a place of return and reflection, and "signs_" his diary of a visual meditation on silence, on time and on the signs that nature leaves behind.
