ROMA presents the body of work produced by David Jiménez during various stays in Italy from 2016 to the present day, which began during his residency at the Royal Spanish Academy in Rome.

In the ROMA project, the transformative power of time and its ability to generate new meanings becomes visible, evoked through fragmented and incomplete forms that create a fictional space of combinatorial nature. Space, both real and imagined, is treated as a stage for the traces of time. The historical past is overlaid with the effects of material erosion, where rocks transform into wisps of smoke and water takes on random forms to imitate solid objects.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
