Since 2006 Guillaume Lebrun has been exploring the triangle formed by Greece, Bulgaria and Turkey, to understand how those countries fit together like the pieces of a puzzle. At times they work like three tectonic plates whose friction sets off the cataclysms of hatred and of war.

He plans a triptych that will put three cities in perspective — Istanbul, Plovdiv and Thessaloniki: three centres of high civilisation that watch each other and see their own reflection in a play of mirrors. This is the first part of it, made in Turkey, in Istanbul.
