A Venice to be found again through Kenna's lens. The volume offers a close survey of the black-and-white work of the English maker, most of it reproduced at the same size as the original prints.

His technique rests on long exposures, which can run to several hours and which bring out unseen detail in the lagoon: domes wrapped in fog, shooting stars in the sky above the bell towers, the great porticoes of the palaces, the prows of gondolas, bridges and statues, twisted poles rising from the black water like ancient figures. The pictures play knowingly with light, shadow and reflection to show the poetic intensity of the city.
