The volume is the fruit of six years of research aimed at finding the traces of Jewish life in fifty-five sites in Italy, from synagogues to cemeteries and memorials.

On this journey Colombo did not choose the road of systematic and objective record but the more secret and complicated one of an intimate questioning, as though the camera wanted to catch atmospheres, presences, silences and echoes. What comes of it is a very rich repertory of a hundred and forty-two colour images, but also a walk inside the labyrinth of spirituality these places compose, holding centuries of memory, at times with dramatic and tragic reflections.
