The book gathers in full what was presented in the first four exhibitions held between 2013 and 2014 in the exhibition spaces of MAST in Bologna. The shows were titled Mondi industriali 2013, Mondi industriali 2014 and Capitale umano nell'industria, and included photographs from the holdings of Fondazione MAST. The fourth exhibition, The Factory Photographs, presented one hundred and eleven pictures, partly from the collection and partly on loan.
