The petrol station is one of the most iconic buildings of the twentieth century, recognised across the world and arguably most established on American soil, where the notion of the road trip on a full tank is culturally ingrained. The volume presents thirty-five archive press pictures of petrol stations taken between 1944 and 1995, collected by the writer David Campany and bought from the photographic archives of several American newspapers that were discarding their analogue print collections.
