Rejoice is a celebration of where Amanda Greene is from and where she lives, in rural Georgia. She is drawn to colours, to the different ways people are creative, decorate and celebrate: produce stands, hand-printed signs, grocery stores, plastic flowers, moments of beauty, creative marks left by people in different settings. Most images were made in her home state of Georgia, some in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Louisiana. A way to celebrate place; the title comes from a song by Devendra Banhart: “We chose rejoice.”
