The work of the Dutch poet, painter and photographer Gerard Petrus Fieret (1924-2009) is among the strangest and most subversive made in Europe in the 1960s. From 1965, when he got his first camera, a Praktiflex, to the mid-1970s, this self-taught photographer worked at speed and without precaution: scratched, stamped, fingerprinted prints, women photographed in his own rooms, pigeons, the street, and a constant fear of being robbed of his images.
