The eighteen landscapes gathered here were made in October 2020 during a photography workshop led by Alexandre Guirkinger and organised by the art centre and publisher Le Point du Jour with the association Itinérance. Six people who had recently settled in Cherbourg took part: they first identified the places that had made an impression on them, then returned to photograph them, so that the resulting views describe a town through the eyes of those who have just arrived in it.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
