HS is a journal of eighteen photographs echoing Amaury da Cunha's narrative Histoire souterraine, published simultaneously by Éditions du Rouergue, forming an echo chamber, a photographic annex alongside the text. The autobiographical account deals with a brother's death in Singapore, a broken love affair in Sicily and a series of ill-fated incidents; though some places and striking faces from the story recur, the images carry no captions or markers of time and place, instead drawing an autonomous, potentially narrative space marked by dazzlement, strangeness and the dark beauty of the world, like "wandering icons destined to drift".
