Photographer Merrick d'Arcy-Irvine and fashion designer Julia Bajanova are invested in intense encounters: with the people in their pictures, with each other as artists and as humans, and between their media and materials. The pictures gathered here focus on the materiality and sensual experience of those media in the physical world, which is why they eschewed all digital technologies. Colours and forms fuse in a shared language of visual art and fashion in which the two write their messages in light on photographic paper: reflections of our existence and portals of self-knowledge.
