Peter Coeln, founder of the photography museums WestLicht and OstLicht, is one of the very few people Ren Hang ever let accompany him while working. During a stay in Vienna in March 2015, Hang organised a casting for a photoshoot: three naked young people climbing trees, lying in leaves and dipping into the water of the Wien river and the Wienerwald. The book, a follow-up to Wild, shows Hang directing and includes some of the original photographs he created during the shoot, with Coeln's account of the day.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
