At the era of social media — insatiable kings of our connected lives that incite self-disclosure and selfies — the photographic series Corps IRL by Vincent Ferrané presents the individuated and embodied body in everyday reality ('In Real Life') as it gains a political dimension by addressing society through the dissemination of its image on digital networks. In the studio, Ferrané stages nine posed, fragile, and intimate body portraits of individuals who have created Safe Places by breaking sociocultural barriers and evolving discriminatory views on disability, appearance, and gender. Exhibited at Destin Sensible and Cnap, Paris, 2024. Shortlisted Paris Photo-Aperture PhotoBook Awards 2024.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
