Volker Hinz (1947–2019) is one of the great German photographers and photojournalists. After beginnings at the Sven Simon agency in Bonn, he moved in 1974 to Stern magazine, for which he photographed legendary photo and travel reportages, artist, politician and celebrity portraits over the following decades. With his pictures, he, who was never encountered without a camera, left traces, not only among colleagues and friends and the many people he portrayed.
