Text by Rudolf Scheutle, Stadtmuseum München

The pictures of this installation show completely different places and people which seem to be linked to each other in a mysterious way. In reality none of them are related: they come from the artist's archive and were taken at very different places at different times. He simply added some key images to his sequence, so that the work only makes use of the aesthetics of certain methods of the police and the secret service, and seeks to seduce the viewer into adding a new meaning and putting the people and places shown into a relation. Solid evidence, real fake. — Rudolf Scheutle

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
