The first part of an American trilogy made in the West of the United States, followed by Petits paysages américains and Eureka USA.

“For twenty years I have stuck my images in albums, small blocks of paper bound without a cover. These are my carnets: a diary without a word. They are sometimes grouped by theme, by chronology, by association of ideas, by place. I like to bring together images that have, a priori, no reason to coexist — small projects born of sleepless nights, sketches, coincidences in the lab, random proposals, biases. These numbered and regular carnets constitute, over time, the story of a visual journey. An individual approach, purely and definitively of the medium.”

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
