NAPOLI, NAPOLI, NAPOLI captures 'a day in Naples', a sunrise-to-sunset excursion that meditates on classicism, the cathartic power of the sea, and the unique influence of the ancient landscape. The photographer's camera does not just hold a mirror to the beauty of Naples, rather, it asks its subjects to see themselves as participating in a process where beauty is continuous with social rhythms that span childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and old age. Having visited Naples for the first time in 2010, the artist fell immediately in love with its people and coastline. Conceived over four consecutive summers, he charts the course of a single day in Neapolitan life. Taking daily trips from Santa Lucia through to Marechiaro, he presents a document of local life down by the water, from the fishermen who welcome the day with their fresh catch, to the youth enjoying the full heat of the sun, to the long shadows of the afternoon.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
