In 2008 Dorothée Davoise began photographing the country her mother comes from, Greece. But that descent is only the starting point: there is no autobiographical charge to look for here, at least not in the sense of a return to the source or of a psychological quest for roots. What is at stake above all is the mark of people on the landscape, and what a place holds of those who passed through it.
