For nearly thirty years Northern Ireland was torn apart by “The Troubles”, one of the most violent conflicts of twentieth-century Europe, which produced an exceptional body of work by photographers from around the world. This seventh title in the TXT Collection analyses how the conflict generated new ways of photographing: its uniqueness and geography changed the approach of those who witnessed it, from photojournalism to a more personal, distanced eye.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
