From construction sites in Berlin to housing built by Fernand Pouillon in Algiers in the 1950s, Couturier rethinks the relation between the photographic medium and its supposed objectivity. By superimposing several images he composes tableaux of great variety of form and colour, combining abstraction and documentary. The E-1027 + 123 series explores the modernist Villa E-1027 designed by Eileen Gray and Jean Badovici at Roquebrune-Cap-Martin and the cabanon of Le Corbusier nearby.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
