In the 1940s Brazil industrialised, opened up internationally, welcomed a large European diaspora fleeing Nazism and became fertile ground for the avant-garde. Echoing this effervescence, a new generation of photographers seized the medium to accompany the aesthetic and cultural upheavals of their time, alongside the architecture of Oscar Niemeyer, Novo Cinema and Bossa Nova. The book follows six figures who built a modernist photography.
